I have been in tech sales for over 20 years. In that time I have been an individual contributor and a hiring manager.
Wherever I have used this four step process I have received a job offer, and as a hiring manager I can tell you very few candidates have a process like this.

Promotion to an AE role is not a formality. In addition to succeeding in your SDR role, hiring managers in sales teams are looking for someone that is well prepared and can hit the ground running.
In most companies, your current manager is not the right person to coach you through this as they have an incentive for you to stay in their team?
